Old Chicago makes plans for new site in Rock Springs

ROCK SPRINGS — Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom is coming to Rock Springs.

It is expected to open in June 2017 adjacent to the Holiday Inn. The restaurant will occupy the spot now filled by Winger’s Roadhouse Grill at 1660 Sunset Drive.

Old Chicago eventually will employ about 60 full- and part-time employees, according to John Johnson, restaurant franchisee and Johnson Restaurant Group Inc. president.

“Initially we will start a few more and land at that number after the honeymoon period wears off,” he said.

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom, headquartered in Casper, is known for its deep-dish pizza and wide array of tap beers.

“We believe that Rock Springs is underserved when it comes to casual dining and full-service, sit-down-type restaurants, so we see a great opportunity in a fantastic location,” Johnson said.

“Rock Springs does not have anything like Old Chicago so our broad menu and high-energy bar will be a great addition to the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wingers plans to move to a new site behind Smith’s Food and Drug at 3900 Dewar Drive.
