Celebrate National Economic Development Month with Us!

The Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition (SEDC) is hosting National Economic Development Week, May 6-11th, and we are celebrating all month long with the help of our great partners, City of Green River, City of Rock Springs, High Desert Human Resource Assn., Green River Chamber of Commerce, Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce, Rock Springs URA Main Street, Green River URA Main Street and Sweetwater County!

We are extremely excited to celebrate all month long with great events and programs. We will kick the month off with a proclamation signing event at the future home of the Sweetwater County Industrial Complex Project at Middle Baxter Road at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 1st.

Then on May 7th from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Bunning Hall is the “Meet the Experts” Business Resource Fair which is open to anyone who is looking to start a business or who is currently in business. We will have 20 experts at the Business Resource Fair, each with a specialty to support or advise businesses. Immediately following the Business Resource Fair, we will have a Networking Social event at Broadway Theater from 4-6 pm with light refreshments to celebrate National Economic Development Week.

We will close out the week on May 8th with the Wednesday for Women Social and Networking event at Soul Studio in Green River from 6 pm to 8 pm. This event is intended for female business owners or leaders to network while enjoying a glass of wine, light refreshments, and hear a short talk from a guest speaker. Tickets are available for $10 at the Green River and Rock Springs Chambers of Commerce and online by visiting www.sweetwateredc.com

We keep the celebration going the rest of the month with two seminars the following week. The High Desert Human Resource Association will host Corey Ciocchetti on May 13th. He will take the stage at the Broadway Theater at 7 pm presenting a talk titled, “Inspire Integrity-Chasing the Authentic Life”. Tickets can be purchased for $5 on the High Desert Human Resource Association Website or at the door.

The final seminar for the month will focus on Leadership and is on May 14th at the WWCC GR Campus. High Desert Human Resources Association is encouraging HR professionals, business owners and supervisors to attend. Registration is available on the High Desert Human Resource Association website. Tickets are$50 for members and $75 for non-members.

But wait, there’s more! SEDC is also doing a Social Media Campaign for National Economic Development Month. #WhySweetwater. We want to hear from you about “Why Sweetwater County.   As business owners, leaders, elected officials and members of community, why have you chosen to start a business, relocate a business, expanded your business, continue to do business.  Or, why you believe Sweetwater County is the best place to, live, work, and play! Also, we are interested to hear from those members of the community that have relocated to Sweetwater County, or left and came back. Please tell us in your own words, #WhySweetwater.

These testimonials will be featured throughout the month of May. All we ask is that you provide a headshot or logo representing you or the business/organization that you represent.

We’ll even “sweeten” the deal and for everyone who participates with submitting a testimonial, we will enter your name in a drawing for a “sweet” prize!  If you are interested in providing a testimonial, please contact SEDC at 362-3771 or businessdevelopment@rockspringschamber.com.

We encourage everyone who participates in the events for National Economic Development Week/Month to use the following Hash Tags #EDW2019 #EconDevWeek #SWCOEconDevMonth so we can follow along and see all the great photos and posts for Economic Development Month in Sweetwater County!
